DTX

The flexible
  • craneable module for large-scale, energy-efficient refurbishment of existing buildings
  • excellent for apartment blocks or halls
  • optimum insulating effect can be determined thanks to variable installation depths
  • with fastening possibility for casing
Cropped image of the DTX, the craneable wooden straw module specially designed for serial, energy-efficient renovation with variable construction depth for optimum insulation of large areas
DTX stores up to
54 kg CO₂ per m²

Product description DTX

The DTX module is available as wall, roof and floor insulation. Its construction depth varies between 20 and 36 cm – depending on the nature of the existing wall. The specific weight of max. 41 kg/m2 (at 36 cm construction depth) requires wall braces for fastening. The DTX is available with a frame thickness of 22 mm for maximum straw insulation effect.

Construction method
  • handcrafted prefabricated framing with minimal use of wood
  • machine pressed and shaved straw filler
Assembly
  • quick and easy to assemble
  • can be plastered or planked immediately
  • sizes and depth variable depending on the condition of the existing wall
  • wooden base allows fastening the formwork
Environmental aspects
  • completely degradable and recyclable
  • wood and straw store CO2
  • tested free of harmful substances
  • Insulating effect more regulating than insulating

Product advantages and
special features DTX

Climate-positive CO2 balance, low disposal effort, excellent insulating properties – all this comes with the decision for a wood straw module with straw insulation ex works. The ease of installation, especially for large building areas, makes the DTX particularly suitable for residential, recreational or educational facilities. The insulation pays for itself in energy terms after just a few weeks.

Phase shift: max. 16.5 h

Straw has a heat storage capacity of 2 kJ/kg*K. Heat is only lost very slowly to the outside. A time delay of the heat transport takes place. With a construction depth of 36 cm, this slowed-down heat transport corresponds to 16.5 h.

Heat protection in summer

The special feature of straw insulation is heat protection in summer due to heat storage capacity and amplitude attenuation. High temperatures are blocked before they penetrate interior walls. Thus, DTX insulation acts like a natural air conditioner all year round – not to be neglected with rising temperatures and energy prices.

Per m2 stored CO2: max. 54 kg

The production of the renewable raw material straw binds far more CO2 than is needed for transport and further processing. The installed square meter of a DTX module with 36 cm construction depth binds 54 kg of emissions into the building structure – just like a CO2 safe.

Flexible installation depth optimizes material use

The construction depth of the DTX modules can vary between 20 and 36cm in 2cm increments based on the condition of the existing wall. This ensures that the right sizing is done, aesthetics are maintained and the best insulation effect is achieved.

No disposal costs

DTX modules are made of renewable straw and wood and are therefore free of pollutants. This means that there are no disposal costs at the end of the modules’ life (although a decades-long service life can be expected if the modules are properly constructed).

Plane surface

The high dimensional accuracy of machine-guided production at LORENZ enables smooth surfaces that do not need to be reworked on the construction site. This simplifies construction, saves time and makes assembly uncomplicated.
